Point Contact [A Fleeting Point in Terrifying Beauty] Album Launch Concert @ Old Church

"A Fleeting Point In Terrifying Beauty is both mobile and monumental, a huge analogue sculpture of heavy guitars, electronics, dark Ambient and percussion. In its foreboding but ravishing elemental approach, it reminds of the harsh stone brilliance of Ben Frost, the horizon stretch of Godspeed You! Black Emperor, and the ritualistic, dry ice solemnity of Sunn O)))"

The project used the sacred architecture of the Old Church as a canvas to explore hierarchical worldviews imposed by Medieval Christianity, while also interrogating the (de)construction of faith in an increasingly technologised world. Through glitch-infused audiovisuals and symbolic performance, we de- and recomposed sacred imagery traditionally associated with self-realisation, love, and spiritual meaning. Costumed movement, live video projection, and industrial soundscapes reframed iconic religious symbols, situating them within dystopian, post-digital landscapes. Our performance was driven by intuitive collaboration and evolving structures, using media technologies to challenge established religious iconography.

I started with reciting the Lord’s Prayer in Korean, before singing a poem I had written, based on improvisation. This act of vocal ritual bridged personal expression and collective spiritual memory. The work, titled Daily Bread, unfolded as a layered, immersive multimedia experience,  exploring themes of yearning, individuality, and fractured faith in contemporary contexts.
